Fishing and Boating Tips
With such a vast system of estuaries, bays, creeks, flats, near-shore and offshore waters, it's knowing where to cast your line that can make all the difference. Whether you are looking for the most consistent multi-species action or a secret snook or redfish spot, Naples, Marco Island and the Gulf Coast Everglades have nearly endless options for the avid angler.
For more information on the fishing regulations in Collier County and the state of Florida, visit the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission's Fishing page.
For information regarding the tides schedule during your stay, visit the Local Tides Schedule.
You'll need to obtain a Florida saltwater or freshwater fishing license, depending on what type of fishing you are interested in. Short-term visitor licenses are available.
You do not need a license to fish from municipal piers such as the Naples Pier, or if you are a customer of a professional fishing guide. You do need a license for most all other forms of fishing.
You may purchase a recreational fishing license at any Collier County tax collector's office or at area Sports Authority, Walmart, Kmart, Sunshine Ace Hardware and select bait-and-tackle shop locations. Call 239-774-8176 for information.
A recreational license is $17.00 when purchased in the tax collector's office and via email; $22.00 when purchased in person in other locations; and $19.00 when purchased by phone. To purchase over the telephone, call 1-888-FISH-FLORIDA (1-888-347-4356).
